Bethany School CHURCH
School at Bethany Community Church, El Zorillo, Baja California, Mexico:
The church hosts a public school for students in the first through sixth grade. These students cannot afford the $10 monthly tuition. Because the church is in a rural area, one of the classes meets in a dirt area covered by a large tent. The school currently has 60 students, the maximum that they are allowed per local government regulations. We are assisting them with their operating costs and are hoping to replace the tent by building two fully functioning enclosed classrooms.
In 2010 we added two feet to a wall that was surrounding the school. The wall now prevents water flowing onto the property and flooding the classrooms. In the early part of the year rain storms flooded the property and severely damaged the septic system. Life House and its partnering churches made major repairs to the infrastructure of the system. The storms in December 2010 did not damage any of the repairs made during the year.
